Though this song was written long before his passing, it has taken on a new depth of meaning in the aftermath of my grandfather's passing during the fall of 2015. The lyrics, once abstract and philosophical, became very earthy to me during those days. The beauty of death was not without its sorrow, but cannot sorrow itself be beautiful? Does not a mournful song speak comfort to the heart? This song is about finding hope—yea, even life itself—in the death that surrounds us.
