This song is quite possibly the oldest on this album. Looking back, I've come to see the song as a sort of hesitant, mournful acquiescence to a certain sort of spiritual death—the death of that often dangerous blend of intellectual certainty and youthful emotionality—which leads to a new depth of life and love and feeling in faith.
